A Seed Swap is happening to help gardens bloom with a fresh variety this summer.

Earthworks, which has a site in Hixberry Lane, St Albans, is offering to Trade your surplus seeds and seedlings at an open evening part of sustainable St-Albans week.

The Earthworks charity open evening on April 25 from 5.30pm to 8pm, will give people a chance to see how they grow fruit and veg using organic principles.

The charity’s Eco Gardens in St. Albans aims to provide a green space maintained by a community of volunteers and adults with learning disabilities.

Plans to pilot an innovative new service called ‘Earthworks on Wheels’, will also be revealed at the event.

Earthwork on Wheels will involve volunteers providing a basic gardening service to vulnerable members of the community including; older people, low income families and people suffering from chronic illness.

They will also be involved in the maintenance and upkeep of public green spaces.

The project is supposed to improve the confidence, self-esteem and self- worth of “earthworkers” by enabling them to help others in their community.
