A father and son have reached the final of a Sky One extreme racing show after creating a weaponised car made of five tonnes of steel.

Philip Hatton and his son Matthew, from Rickmansworth, appeared in the first episode of television show Carnage on Sunday.

The show is hosted by Former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff, rapper Lethal Bizzle and Capital FM presenter Vick Hope.

Over the series, around 30 specially made cars, which are all purpose built and weaponised, will battle it out in three different arenas in the desert.

The last car standing after all the challenges will be the champion.

The pair have so far been successful with their Hellraiser car, which is made of nearly five tonnes of armoured steel.

Mr Hatton said: “We have a good team with my lad Matt and my brother Paul and our vehicle is amazing.

“We are glad to representing Rickmansworth and Herts in the finals.”

In the first episode they fought off other teams have included a pink unicorn driven by an army soldier woman called Julie, an oversized ice cream truck with paint cannons instead of cornets.

There has also been a Scottish team in a weaponised Ford Sierra, a team of farmers and a brace team in a Mini.

Carnage will be on Sky One every Sunday for five weeks at 8pm.
