A group of mums are putting the finishing touches to their training as they prepare to tackle a bike ride.

Nina Hale, Annie Griggs, Ceri Owens, Joanna Moir and Noami Dugdale - Team Hot Wheels - all from St Albans, have juggled their work and family commitments to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

They will cycle 54 miles from London to Bright on Sunday, June 17.

Nina;s mother was born with a heart defect and has been managing her condition since she was a child, while Ceri lost her father-in-law to heart disease after an aneurysm three years ago. Naomi’s father in law survived a heart attack two years ago.

Annie said: "Among our friends and families we know people who have passed away from heart disease but also people who have survived it.

"The life-saving research being undertaken by the British Heart Foundation is incredibly important and we are hoping to raise over £1,000 to help the charity fund its vital work.

"We're looking forward to the challenge of the hills."

The group train at Everyone Active, Westminster Lodge, in St Albans.

Nina said: "We wouldn’t have contemplated the London to Brighton Bike Ride before we found fitness through Everyone Active.
