Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo says the club are nearing an agreement for the transfer of Orestis Karnezis and Alex Meret to Napoli.
Karnezis spent last season on loan at Watford and, despite claiming during his stay he would like a permanent move, is not expected to return to the club.
Instead the keeper is now set to be part of deal to take Meret to Napoli, which could end up costing €35 million with bonuses.
Pozzo stressed their are still issues to be settled in completing the transfer, but believes the two clubs are moving towards a conclusion.
“Some details are missing but we are working to solve them,” Pozzo told reporters in Italy.
Karnezis is likely to play a mentoring role to Meret should the pair join the Naples club and will arrive on the back of an up and down season at Watford.
The Greek stopper endured a nightmare start, suffering a game changing howler on his debut at Everton, but soon turned a corner.
By the end of the season he had usurped Heurelho Gomes as Watford’s first choice in goal.
