Coming up this weekend at the Alban Arena...

The Drifters

They are back on a long-awaited tour in the UK with their classic hits from the last six decades and they’re stopping off at The Alban Arena on Friday at 7.30pm.

The Drifters were created in 1953 by George Treadwell & Clyde McPhatter. George Treadwell managed the group and laid the foundation of what would make the Drifters one of the greatest groups of all time. After George’s untimely death in 1967, it was down to his widow Faye to continue with the group and to determine the direction they would take. Faye took the Drifters onto great achievements that saw the group grow and become a household name.

The Drifters delivered numerous hits on both sides of the Atlantic that saw them inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. In 1993 The Drifters were requested by the President of the United States of America to perform at the White House. In 2004 The Drifters were listed by ‘Rolling Stone Magazine’ in the top 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The legacy of the Drifters is now continued by the Treadwells’ daughter, Tina, who intends to keep the spirit alive for as long as is possible.

Their brand new tour entails a variety of timeless classics, with the likes of Saturday Night At Movies, You’re More Than A Number, Come on Over to My Place, Up On The Roof, Under the Boardwalk, Kissin’ In The Back Row, Save The Last Dance For Me, Down On The Beach, Hello Happiness and many more to be played.

BNBF Central Qualifiers 2018

The British Natural Bodybuilding Federation returns to The Alban Arena for their Central Qualifier event on Sunday at 12pm.

Established in 2000, the BNBF works to provide the best possible environment for natural bodybuilders to compete, through the use of the best venues, top quality lighting and most importantly the most stringent drug testing policy in the sport. Adhering to these principles quickly placed them at the forefront of natural bodybuilding in the UK, and year on year the Federation has expanded and gone from strength to strength.

The BNBF Central is a qualifier for the BNBF British Finals. With athletes aged from 17 to 70, the mass of the men’s classes and the beauty of the figure classes there is someone everyone can aspire to.
