Jonathan Moss will take charge of Watford’s Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The official has already got his campaign underway after refereeing Manchester City’s impressive 2-0 Community Shield victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

Watford’s clashes were overseen on three occasions by Moss last season and they will hope for better fortune this time round after picking up a sole point from those encounters.

That draw came in Javi Gracia’s first game in charge of the Hornets, a 0-0 draw at Stoke City in January, and the other two games ended in respective 4-2 defeats on the road at Chelsea and at home against Manchester United.

Moss brandished 125 yellow cards and sent off four players in 35 outings across all competitions last season, with 15 of those bookings coming in games involving the Hornets.
