Former Watford striker Matej Vydra has signed for Burnley from Championship side Derby County.
The 26-year-old played a key role in helping Watford gain promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2014/15 as he scored 16 goals in 42 Championship outings across the campaign.
He was the top scorer in English football’s second tier last term, bagging 21 goals as Derby reached the play-offs.
His move comes a week after Burnley saw a £9 million bid for Troy Deeney rejected by Watford.
Vydra has been angling for a move away from the Rams throughout the summer and was understandably pleased to have made the step up to the Premier League.
“For the last four years I have been fighting to be in the Premier League,” he said. “I haven’t done it with the teams I was playing for and sometimes it has to be done with a transfer. Now I am so happy.”
