The team at Loughton Leisure Centre are celebrating this week after winning the coveted Gym of the Year award from the east London and West Essex Guardian Series.

The Leisure Centre has been a hub of the community for many years and the work that the team do helping people to get fit, improve health and wellbeing and return from injury has resulted in this fantastic achievement.

The gym at Loughton Leisure Centre has undergone a number of changes in the last 18 months and operators Places for People Leisure have been working hard with Epping Forest District Council to improve the centre and expand the offering to make it more accessible.

This month will see the opening of the brand new two storey gym area complete with 150 stations of state of the art fitness equipment including Watt bikes, SkillMills, a Sprint Track, Lifting Platform, functional rig and much more. There is also a brand new Indoor Cycling Studio, two workout class studios and an all new swimming pool changing village designed to improve customer experience and increase participation.

Mike Willis, fitness manager, comments: “We’re thrilled to have won the gym of the year award and thank all of our customers that voted for us. We can’t wait to show off the new facilities to our customers and look forward to welcoming some new faces to the gym as well”.

The new look gym is due to open on August 18 and you can find out more on the centres websites placesleisure.org/centres/loughton-leisure-centre
