Earlier this year, filmmakers from across the world submitted their entries to the Watford Short Film Festival and on Saturday, the winners of several categories were presented with awards at the Watford Pump House.

Cllr Karen Collett, cabinet member for community, says: “The creative talent on show at the short film festival was amazing. Hopefully the festival will help launch successful careers for many aspiring actors, writers and film-makers.”

The event, which was funded through Watford Borough Council’s Small Grants Fund, allowed budding filmmakers the opportunity to enter their short film for an award, including the categories; Best Drama, Best Documentary, Best Animation and the Watford Award.

An expert judging panel presented the best film from each category with an award at the end of the festival, this included:

Watford Award: Living With Parkinson’s Disease

Judge’s Award - Best Drama: A Ferry Tale

Judge’s Award - Best Drama (college/university): Shattered

Audience Award - Best Drama: A Ferry Tale

Judge’s Award - Best Documentary: The Bench

Judge’s Award - Best Documentary (college/university): A Passing Time

Audience Award - Best Documentary: A Passing Time

Judge’s Award - Best Animation: A Drawing

Judge’s Award - Best Animation (college/university): Where I Was Born

Audience Award: Best Animation:’iRony
