Older people will be able to enjoy a day of activities and get advice about keeping safe.

St Alban’s District Council’s Older People’s Day will be hosted in the Alban Arena on October 17.

Everyone is welcome to the free event, which kicks off at 10am and runs until 1pm.

Cllr Brian Ellis, who is responsible for housing and inclusion, said: “It is important that older people feel part of our community and do not become socially isolated.

“They can also find out about a range of social and fun activities, including art and keep-fit clubs, as well as volunteering opportunities to help others.

“It is a relaxed event where people can just drop in for chat, pick up leaflets, discover activities to enjoy and discuss any issues they have.”

Free tea, coffee and cake will also be available.
