A man in his 50s had to go to hospital after he was knocked over by a motorbike before the rider sped off.

The victim was walking along Theobald Street in Borehamwood, towards Radlett, near the junction of Rossington Avenue at 4.20pm on Sunday, when he struck by a bike on the pavement.

The man and the rider were both flung into the air before both landed heavily leaving the pedestrian with a leg injury.

But the rider quickly got up and fled the scene, picking up his bike before wheeling into the road and driving off. The incident is not being treated as “deliberate”.

The victim was injured and he was taken to Barnet Hospital. He has since returned home but remains shaken by the hit-and-run.

The rider has been described as well built, wearing a black track suit and aged in his young to mid-20s. He had short light hair.

He was riding a black motocross bike and was not wearing a helmet.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed enquiries are ongoing.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 4.43pm on October 21 to Theobald Street, Borehamwood, to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist and pedestrian.

“The motorcyclist had failed to stop at the scene.

“It was reported that the motorcyclist had mounted the pavement and collided with the pedestrian who had suffered a leg injury. This is not believed to be a deliberate act.

“Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via 101, quoting ISR 569 of October 21.”
