A concert featuring an internationally renowned soprano will take place next weekend.

Janice Watson will appear in the Elstree Mozart Players classical extravaganza at Allum Manor and Hall on Saturday November 17.

Led by Lucy Cumming and conducted by Derek Holland, the concert organised by the Studio Rotary Club in Elstree & Borehamwood, will also feature the Overture from Hansel and Gretel, The Carmen Suite, the Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, before the event is rounded off with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

Grammy winner Janice Watson, who won the Kathleen Ferrier Award at the age of 23, has performed in some of the most acclaimed opera houses across the world and has also sung at the Royal Albert Hall and Edinburgh Festival.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards the Dementia Club.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Borehamwood Brass hosted a concert at St Michael and All Angels Church in Brook Road.

The concert organised by the Anglican Parishes Church Council raised more than £400 for Peace Hospice Watford.

Borehamwood Brass meet most Friday nights at Holy Cross Church Hall in Balmoral Drive from 8pm-10pm. The band are currently on the look-out for tenor horn, euphonium, and cornet players.
