Police officers were out in force last week for a “day of action” across an estate.

Police community support officers and PC's were visible across the Holywell Estate last Wednesday and they were joined by ward councillor Cllr Nigel Bell.

Cllr Bell said it was “important” to the people of Holywell that the police oculd reassure them following recent events.

Cllr Bell said: “I felt it important to accompany the police to show support for them as they went out to reassure Holywell residents they are around to combat crime especially after recent events such as the incident in Charlock Way.”

In late October, a suspicious device was found in a car in Charlock Way. Bomb disposal officers attended and a controlled explosion had to be carried out in King George V recreation ground.

Earlier in the day Cllr Matt Turmaine and Cllr Bell were invited by the police to Watford police station in Shady Lane for a briefing on crime issues in the Holywell ward.

Police investigations into the Charlock Way incident are ongoing and there is no update at this stage.
