Once again the ‘elves’ at Leigh Town Council have been working to bring you ‘Leigh Lights’ on Friday.

The festivities will begin from 5pm and the town will be lit up as visitors arrive.

The Yuletide Parade, featuring joyful fundraisers will start from Kings Road at 6.30 pm, travelling along Leigh Road, Broadway and finishing in Broadway West around 7.30pm.

Stibbards & Sons is kindly sponsoring this year’s parade and the two best parade entries will receive £150 and £100 respectively to donate to their charity of choice. And, a new interactive system will allow the crowds to vote for their favourite entrants online.

Crowds will be entertained by a selection of wonderful local choirs and musical groups throughout the town. Leigh shops and businesses will be organising their own entertainment as well.

Look out for our parade programme which will feature a map, parade entries, timetables and special offers from traders to add to the nights enjoyment.

For children’s pre-event fun, stop by Leigh Community Centre from 4pm until 6pm where you can enjoy a puppet show and visit Elsa's grotto! Thanks to Leigh Round Table you can have your picture taken on Santa’s sleigh and they will also be selling reasonably priced glow-sticks. This is the perfect opportunity for younger children to enjoy the event, whilst avoiding the crowds and cold weather outside!

If you are a vehicle owner, then the advice is to stay clear of the area from 5pm as the Broadway and Broadway West will be closed. Parking restrictions will be in place from 4.30pm around town (3.30pm in Elm Road) and there will be no traffic movement in Leigh Road from 6.15pm.

A full list of closures is available here:

The Leigh Lights will kick off the Council’s Yuletide Season which continues with a Christmas Craft Fayre on Saturday 1st December (also featuring Elsa's grotto), Carols on Strand Wharf on Saturday 8thDecember and Christmas Farmers Market on Saturday 22nd December. An exciting time for Leigh residents and traders!
