A woman escaped with minor injuries after being hit by a train.
Shortly before 3.30pm yesterday (December 13) a 21-year-old woman from Harpenden was struck by a train at Highams Park Station.
The station was shut down as emergency services attended the scene, causing a knock on effect along the Overground line.
A statement from British Transport Police said: “Just before 3.30pm today (13 December) British Transport Police were called to the track close to Highams Park Rail Station following reports that a person had been hit by a train.
“Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the ambulance service, and a woman has been taken to hospital.
“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
“The 21-year-old woman from Harpenden was treated for non-serious non-life threatening injuries.” At the beginning of October last year a 16-year-old boy was hit by a train at the station's level crossing.
He was airlifted to hospital where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
