A park has received several awards this year for its restoration as a local treasure.

Cassiobury Park has received five accolades including a Landscape Institute (LI) Award.

The beauty spot with an enormous amount of history, Cassiobury Park has also been named as a Green Flag award-winning park.

The park has been put under extensive regeneration.

In June 2014, it was recognised that many of the facilities in Cassiobury Park needed updating and £6m of funding was awarded to carry out the restoration.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “I’m proud that the Cassiobury has been recognised once again, in what’s been an incredible year for the park.

“The restoration project has helped restored the park and the work has made a real difference in improving the landscape and the facilities for the over one million visitors it welcomes every year.

“The fantastic park hub building and paddling pools got a record-breaking number of visitors this year. The park really is one of the jewels in Watford’s crown.”

The awards don’t seem to stop for Cassiobury Park as it has recently been recognised for its architecture, planning and design.

Cassiobury Park was shortlisted as a finalist at the Civic Trust Awards, which reward projects that offer a positive cultural, social, economic or environmental benefit to their local communities.

If you haven’t already this Christmas, make sure you enjoy a nice brisk walk through the park and facilities on offer.
