A famous footballer was spotted travelling at 125mph on the M25 at the weekend.
Police clocked the Mercedes G Wagon hurtling down the motorway, between j22 for St Albans and j20 for the A41, on Sunday morning, at its worst travelling 55mph over the speed limit.
Not only was the vehicle caught speeding but officers also watched as it undertook a car and van after appearing to leave the M25 for the M1 northbound, before veering back onto the main carriageway.
The BCH Road Policing Unit said the vehicle flew past its marked car before it was later pulled up.
The force, which covers Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Cambridgeshire, tweeted: “Having just overtaken a marked police X5, this somewhat well-known footballer decided 125mph and undertaking on an off slip of the M25 was OK #taxitotraining'.”
The driver has not been named yet for legal reasons but Hertfordshire Constabulary says the suspect is a man aged in his 30s from London.
He was reported for summons for excessive speed following the incident and will appear at magistrates' court at a later date.
