The new year is upon us and the country has gone wild for veganism.
According to some surveys, the number of people forgoing animal products in the UK rose from 500,000 in 2016 to 3.5m by April last year.
This general upward trend has been amplified since the turn of 2019 with Veganuary, an increasingly popular chance to turn that kitchen into an animal free zone in the increasingly populated calendar of month-long-abstinences.
As much as torfurkey sausages, facon and veggie burgers have been a fixture on supermarket shelves for some time now however, the fast food world has been slow to catch up.
Which is the reason why - along with a searing and witty company Twitter page - Gregg's vegan sausage roll has caused such a commotion.
For the first time these pastry loving isles will be unified by a cross country ability to buy a cheap, greasy snack with no cost to the animal world.
And if that were not reason enough to rejoice, today McDonald's took the chance to release its first vegan offering.
The video above details what I thought of it all.
