A popular country pub has shut its doors for the final time.

On New Year's Day The Moletrap in Tawney Common called it a day.

According to members of a fan page for the pub run by its regulars, time was called on the establishment following the retirement of its landlord David Kirtley.

One member suggested a recent death in the Kirtley family had "left a big hole".

A message written on the pub's website read: "We have closed our doors permanently.

"Thank you for all of your custom and support over many years.

"We wish you well."

It is currently unclear whether a new landlord will take over the pub.
