Following the trust's bid for a £350 million loan from the Government the mayor has applauded the move ahead of the trust’s proposed modernisation program.
The Elected Mayor of Watford has welcomed a recent trust's announcement about work on improvements to the existing facilities as part of broader £350 million package.
Planning permission was already granted for a new multi-storey car park at Watford General Hospital at a public meeting last night.
The Watford Mayor said:
"Residents want their acute health facilities to stay in Watford, and we have done everything possible to achieve this.
“If we get this new funding, we will see Watford General getting much need improvements so that we have modern facilities to support the work that the staff.
“We need a bigger and better hospital in Watford this would be a huge benefit to our town."
