On Mondays I sit and chat to guests at a St.Albans foodbank. My heart goes out to so many who are not in a job because they were given the push from work.  And why?   So often because of a work-related injury. So John or Fred or Sue now have no income due to something that was  not their fault. They try and make do with benefits, and now they are here, reluctantly. We try and make them feel at home but the first time people come it might be with embarrassment and shame.

Quite often, each one of us meets a situation where something is taken away from us whether it’s to do with relationships or money or work.  How do you move on?   You could wrestle with it, you could scream at its unfairness, you could struggle with whether the blame is your or not.  I have found that until you have been able to forgive the person or authority who did you wrong, heaviness will lie upon you.

How can you forgive a wrong?  Well, it’s not by strong thinking but by asking God to do it for you as you say the words “ I forgive you. “  You may not believe in Him yet,  but why not try it, and after you’ve plucked up the courage to do this you’ll be amazed at the relief which comes. The Lord’s prayer reads “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us “.
