A blind moggy is using braille-like methods to get used to his surroundings.

Two-year-old Felix was left at the National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford with so many physical problems it is a wonder he has any of his nine lives left.

In addition to being completely blind, the young ginger Tom was also found to be suffering with a painful dislodged kneecap causing him to avoid using his right leg.

Determined to ensure Felix had some quality of life, animal supervisor Shirkara North and her team marked the floor of his home with tape, so he can find his food, water, bed and litter box.

Felix

Ms North said: “The tape works a little like braille so as long as everything in his pen remains in the same place, Felix can use his senses to navigate his way around.

“Thankfully, he’s a fast learner and already has a good understanding of where everything is, which has helped to build his confidence.”

Felix will need surgery to correct his poorly leg and guarantee a pain-free future.
