Improved facilities and more trains could be coming to the second busiest station in Watford if campaigners get their way.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and Oxhey councillor Maggie Parker met with London Overground management to press for improvements at Bushey station that could include step-free access, improved shelters, dementia friendly platforms and a more frequent train service.

The station received around 1.4 million visitors last year which is around double the number that used it in 2010.

In addition to Bushey station, London Overground also manage Watford High Street and Carpenders Park.

Cllr Parker said: “More and more local people are choosing to use Bushey station everyday as their connection into London and elsewhere, so it has been really important to be able to raise some of their concerns directly with the station management.

“I hope we can see some progress on the areas discussed as soon as possible.”

Mayor Taylor added: “It’s been really good to meet with London Overground to talk about improving their services through our town. In particular, I was pleased about their commitment to training more of their staff as Dementia Friends to support my Dementia Friendly Town project.”
