Female firefighters swapped their hose reels for football boots in a new video which celebrates International Women’s Day.

Firefighters from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service: Helen Read, Jules Hawkins and Kristi Burling joined Watford FC Ladies players Georgie Edwards and Alysha Stokjo-Down at Watford training ground in London Colney for the day.

Meanwhile the football players trained at the Longfield Training and Development Centre in Stevenage learning how to rescue a casualty from a car crash.

After their respective training sessions the group sat down to answer questions. “How important are the people you work alongside?”

Both firefighters and footballers agreed that their colleagues are pivotal in their roles, Ms Edwards said that they are “extremely important”.

Ms Burling said: “You have to have each other’s backs.”

The women were surprised by the physical fitness level both jobs required.
