A primary school has received an award for its hard work and dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of its children and the community.
Thomas Willingale School and Nursery, The Broadway, Loughton, was presented at the Healthy Schools Awards ceremony in Chelmsford when they were also re-accredited with Healthy Schools status.
The Outstanding Contribution award acknowledges schools which goes above and beyond with personal, physical activity, social and healthy eating issues.
Emotional health and wellbeing, health and economic education, pupil voice and relationships and engagement between pupils and parents were also recognised.
Headteacher Teresa Phillips said: "Only two schools in West and South Essex were awarded this achievement and we are incredibly proud to be one of them.
"We work hard to ensure our children receive the best academic education, but we also try to ensure that their wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do."
