A burglar fled the scene after disturbing an elderly homeowner asleep in bed.

Hertfordshire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses weeks after a man broke into a house in Langley Road, Watford, between 4pm and 4.30pm on February 25.

After stealing money from the kitchen, the intruder made his way upstairs to search the bedrooms where he discovered the victim, 90s, asleep.

The burglar did not threaten or harm the man but instead ran out of the house.

The intruder is described as white, of average height, with light-coloured short hair. He was clean shaven and wore a blue woolly coat.

Detective Constable Julie Vint said: “I appreciate this incident happened a few weeks ago but we are keen to hear from anyone in the nearby area who has CCTV installed on their property.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who remembers seeing a person matching the description in the area around the time of the burglary.”
