Police have confirmed "no offences took place" after reports a 12-year-old girl was grabbed in St Albans city centre.
Hertfordshire Constabulary responded to reports that three men approached the girl in Russell Avenue on May 7.
Initial reports suggested they had got out of a blue vehicle and tried to grab her but a member of the public intervened.
Following enquiries, St Albans Inspector Andy Wiseman said: “Following extensive enquiries by local officers and further work with the girl involved it has been established that no crimes have taken place.
“I understand that following the initial report to police regarding this matter there was considerable concern among the local community, which was voiced via community Facebook pages. However, I would like to reassure you that no offences have occurred and there is no risk to the public.”
