A man has been killed after he was struck by at least one vehicle in the middle of the night.

Police were called to the North Circular/A406 just after 3am after reports of a pedestrian being hit.

It happened on the westbound carriageway in Neasden - close to the end of the M1 at Staples Corner, Brent Cross.

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish who he is.

Paramedics attended alongside the London Ambulance Service.

Police say two black vehicles failed to stop at the scene and have not ruled out the possibility the man was hit by both.

The North Circular is now open in both directions. The westbound carriageway was closed for most of the morning to allow police to carry out an investigation into the collision.

As a result, there were long delays in the area, including on the approach to the closure and delays in Brent Cross, Edgware, and surrounding areas.

There were also long queues on the M1 southbound from Hertfordshire.

No arrests have been made. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have dashcam footage. If you can help, call officers in Brent on 101 quoting reference 699/20May or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
