A man has died and another was injured in a shooting in east London.

Met Police said officers were called shortly before 3am this morning (Sunday, July 7) to reports of gunshots on Lea Bridge Road, Leyton.

Police, including firearms officers, attended the scene and found a man, believed to be aged in his late 20s, suffering from a "gunshot injury", the Met said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin are yet to be informed and formal identification has not yet taken place.

A second man, aged in his 20s, is being treated at an east London hospital for "non-life threatening injuries", according to police.

The roads are currently closed and the Homicide and Major Crime Command has been informed.

This morning's incident comes less than two days after another fatal shooting in Harrow Road, Wembley. 

The incident happened at 8.10pm on Friday (July 5). A man believed to be in his 30s died from his injuries.
