A cancer patient will be taking part in charity fundraiser with his devoted wife.
Dave and Katie Smale from Apsley will be taking part in the Walk Together in London on Saturday, September 14 to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.
Mr Smale has been living with stage four bowel cancer since he was diagnosed two years ago when he was 36.
Mr Smale, now 38, will be taking part in the walk because he wants younger people to be more aware of the symptoms to look out for as the disease is affecting a growing number of people under the age of 50.
He said: “Despite having stage four cancer in my thirties, I’ve been very lucky. Through pioneering surgery, and many forms of chemotherapy, I’m surviving, and I intend to keep things that way.
"This is only possible because of the work of charities like Bowel Cancer UK who are funding the research into these treatments. I’ve been treatable, but many are not, so I’m doing this walk to give more people a chance of surviving in the future”
