A franchisee of a global fast-food chain raised £255 for charity by holding a quiz night.

John Loizou who runs six McDonald’s branches including Waltham Abbey and his team held the quarterly annual fundraising event at The Chequers pub on Barkingside High Street.

Staff McDonald’s restaurants including Barkingside, Newbury Park, Brimsdown, Chingford and Marks Gate all took part.

All money raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) which enables families to maintain a degree of normal life while their child is undergoing medical treatment.

This was the sixth successful quarterly quiz night in a row and currently on track to exceed the £2000 target in 2019.

Speaking about the charity pub quiz, Mr Loizou said: “Myself and everyone involved had an amazing evening raising funds for RMHC.

“The London hospitals including Camberwell, Evelina, Moorfields and Tooting do such a great job for families across our city and we like to help with fundraising wherever possible.

“A special thank you to The Chequers Pub for hosting us again and all my team who come along to raise money for such an amazing charity.”
