A sight loss charity launched a new exhibition to add to its portfolio of events throughout Essex.

The Low Vision Exhibition for charity Support 4 Sight showcased the latest technology and equipment available to assist those with visual impairments in everyday life.

Organisations from across the district was in attendance to offer information, advice and guidance and signposting to other organisations where needed.

The event took place today at Elphwood Hall, Cornmill, Waltham Abbey, from 10 am – 2 pm.

Paul Atkins from Support 4 Sight said: “Year on year the numbers of people attending this type of event increases and we are delighted to be in Waltham Abbey to raise awareness of sight loss and how it affects thousands of people.

“The exhibition is an ideal opportunity to showcase what services are offered by Support 4 Sight and other sensory organisations. The event is free.

“Please come along and talk to us and the many experts on the day.

“There will be refreshments where you will have the opportunity to sit and chat with others in a relaxed environment.”

One in five people aged 75 and over are living with sight loss going up to one in two people aged 90 and over.

Every day 250 people start to lose their sight in the UK.

As of 2015, more than two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that is severe enough to have a significant impact on their daily lives.
