Boris Johnson's pledge to boost education funding will not benefit the majority of schools in our area next year, we can reveal.
In early August, the Prime Minister promised to reverse the real-terms education cuts with an increase of £4.4billion funding per year by 2022/23.
The plans mean there will be an increase in the minimum funding schools receive per pupil.
In 2020-21, the minimum funding per pupil will increase from £3,500 to £3,750 for primary schools, and from £4,800 to £5,000 for secondary schools. There will be a further increase in the primary schools minimum to £4,000 in 2021-22.
However, House of Commons data shows the reforms will benefit just 35 out of 128 schools in the Watford, Hertsmere and South West Hertfordshire constituencies.
Less than one in four schools in Watford and Hertsmere and just more than a third of schools in South West Herts are eligible for the boost in per-pupil funding for the next academic year.
