An enterprising mum on the school run used her son’s welly to save a lost frog from a potentially sticky end.

Lisa, from the Meriden in Watford, was walking her two sons Brody, 2, and Jaxon, 4, to school through the rain on Tuesday morning (September 24) when they pointed to the displaced amphibian out in an underpass.

She decided to check on the creature after she had dropped Jaxon off and found the frog jumping against the walls trying to escape.

Lisa was carrying Jaxon’s Wellington boots and decided to use one of them to rescue it so it did not get squashed, carrying it to a nearby wooded area.

She said: “It was bouncing around on its own halfway down the subway in the dark.

“There was water down the sides of the subway, and someone was staring at it and my sons wanted to have a look, but I had to get Jaxon to school.

“My concern was that I thought it would be hurt by the number of bikes and pushchairs that go through the subway.

“My two year-old absolutely loved watching it. I think it must have got there because of all the rain. I’m an animal lover so I didn’t want it to get squashed.”
