St Albans is home to some of the best restaurants in the country, according to The Restaurant Guide.
Four restaurants in the area were featured in this year's guide by AA hospitality.
The foodie's guide to the best cuisine in Britain contains more than 2,000 restaurants currently awarded Rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA, which inspects restaurants and hotels.
19 restaurants in Hertfordshire are featured in this year's guide - and about a fifth of those are in St Albans:
St Michael’s Manor

The manor house dates back to before 1530 and was converted into a hotel in 1965 by the Newling Ward family and has remained independent ownership since.
The restaurant offers a variety of menus including afternoon tea.
They serve dishes such as red mullet, stone bass, gin cured sea trout and herbed hash cake.
The Restaurant at Sopwell House

Sopwell House is a hotel that aims to provide sophisticated services including a spa, brasserie and cocktail lounge.
The restaurant offers fine dining and serve dishes such as 62-degree egg yolk, Orkney scallop, spiced monkfish, Hertfordshire beef and creedy carver duck.
Chez Mumtaj

A modern French-Asian restaurant offers intimate dining and has an open theatre kitchen and a champagne bar.
The dishes they serve include a seafood platter, buttered black tiger prawns, scallops and chicken tikka.

This independent restaurant offers a relaxed fine dining experience and has vegan and vegetarian options.
Some of the dishes they offer are poached duck egg tart, Cornish white crab, pot roast cauliflower and broccoli risotto.
