St Albans Cathedral is planning to light up the skies with a space-themed firework show.

The cathedral will be hosting their annual Fireworks Spectacular display at Verulamium Park on November 2.

And this year, there will be a space theme. The display will be accompanied by space themed music and audio clips from the moon landing footage.

This is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing and ties in with the Cathedral’s Space Voyage programme which they are running from October 28 to November 1.

The event this year will raise money for The Hospice of St Francis and counselling charity Youth Talk.

Youth Talk chief executive David Barker said: “Youth Talk’s vital work relies on the generosity and goodwill of individuals and business across St Albans.

“We are delighted to be one of the nominated charities for this year’s fireworks display.”

There will also be a range of hot food and drinks. Bars will be serving beers from Tring Brewery along with mulled wine, cider and gin.

St Albans Cathedral sub dean The Reverend Canon Abi Thompson said: “We are so excited and proud to put on the fireworks event for our community.

“It is a great opportunity for everybody to get together – young and old – to enjoy a spectacular evening.”
