Epping Town Council has set its budget for 2020-21 which includes a slight increase.

Properties that fall within band D category will now pay £4.38 per annum, or 8p per week.

This is so the council can continue to run its many services and functions for Epping Parish.

Epping Town Council is responsible for running and maintenance of the Monday Market, the Christmas Market, Christmas lights, allotments, recreation grounds, cemetery and public toilets.

A town council spokesman said: "Due to the general freeze on housebuilding in the Epping Forest district, the money available to the town council through decreased house building this year has impacted the town council most.

"The increase in precept from residents through their Council Tax will allow the busy town council to continue running its many vital services and cover its operational costs including staffing, repairs and maintenance."
