A vital country lane will be closed for much of this week.
Redhall Lane, near Croxley Green, is shut from today until Thursday for gas works.
Cadent is relaying a gas service pipe.
The road was open during this morning's rush hour (Monday) but has since closed.
The road will not reopen until at least Thursday, although it's unclear when exactly on Thursday motorists will be able to use Redhall Lane again.
The official diversion by Hertfordshire County Council takes drivers through Bucks Hill, Chipperfield, Belsize, and Sarratt. The diversion takes around 15 minutes in normal traffic conditions.
Signs are in place.
Motorists are advised to leave extra time for their journeys, particularly during rush hour.
