A HISTORIC pub will be closed for refurbishment and will bring 10 new jobs when it reopens.

The Victoria on Victoria Street, St Albans will close next Monday (February 3) for a revamp by new licensees Tom Maloney and his son Tom Maloney Junior.

The work is expected to take six week and the improved pub will open in the middle of March.

As a result of the £340,000 refurbishment 10 new jobs will be created.

The Victoria pub dates back to 1871. The exterior will be redecorated and the pub garden will feature lighting, heating and covers for use all year round.

They are also installing a coffee hatch at the side of the pub where coffee will be served coffee from 6.30am and pre prepare drinks via an app.

There will be improvements to the kitchen and there are plans to introduce an all day American-style food menu.

The pair also want to introduce an extended drinks menu including lagers, cask and craft beers, and a selection of spirits, cocktails and wines.
