Motorway fully open after lorry left carriageway


Three lanes closed on M1 after crash near Hemel Hempstead

    A lorry left the M1 carriageway this morning.
  • Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway near Hemel Hempstead just after 10.30am.
  • A lorry ended up on the wrong side of the hard shoulder and crash barrier, colliding into a tree.
  • Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue says one casualty was left in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service.
  • Three lanes were initially closed but traffic officers were able to open another one one, so two lanes were running past the scene.
  • All lanes were reopened by 2.30pm.
  • There was queuing traffic northbound from j6 for Bricket Wood as well as in both directions on the M25 at j21.
