It looks like snow may be on the horizon following icy conditions today.

The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning for sleet and snow to parts of Epping Forest tomorrow (February 27).

The warning covers the north part of the district, including North Weald Bassett, Chipping Ongar, Moreton and Hastingwood. Epping sits just outside the weather service's warning zone.

Snow currently affecting areas in the Midlands, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland will be moving eastwards in the evening.

People could be waking up to around one centimetre of snow.

But it is expected the sleet and snow should cause some travel disruption, with likely longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

The Channel 4 weather presenter Liam Dutton warned yesterday that snow could be reaching southern parts of England and Wales early on Thursday, before the Met Office confirmed so.

Any rain, sleet and snow will quickly clear as it heads south eastern by the late morning, and any settled snow will quickly thaw later in the day.

This follows the yellow warning which the Met Office issued yesterday for ice across the country for today and tomorrow.
