CHESHIRE Search and Rescue (SAR) is joining forces with teams in the Caribbean to share best practice and support.
Cheshire SAR’s primary function is to assist Cheshire Police in searching for vulnerable missing people, but is also geared up to provide flood response, evidence searches plus major incident and aviation incident support.
Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR) in the Caribbean is also a voluntary organization dedicated to saving lives at sea with 24-hour coverage, 365 days a year.
Simon Lane MBE, team leader of Cheshire SAR said: “We’re delighted to announce this strategic partnership with a fellow SAR team in the Caribbean.
“The aim is to share best practise and pertinent information, provide mutual support in any way possible and utilise our joint experience to help develop both teams in the future.”
Jonathan Cornelius, director of ABSAR, added: “We’re looking forward to exploring ways that the two teams can support each other from different sides of the Atlantic.
“Cheshire and Antigua and Barbuda provide very different environments and challenges, but our passion to support our communities, save lives and provide a professional service is mutual.”
Both teams are charities and rely on fundraising initiatives and donations in order to survive.
