Despite warnings of thunderstorms, many areas should remain dry during the yellow warning period issued by the Met Office.

Britain faced the hottest temperatures of the year so far yesterday (June 25) with the sunshine-stricken week.

While the rest of the week is expected to remain warm, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for storms today for most of the country.

The yellow warning has been issued from 12pm today until 9am tomorrow (June 27).

Areas around Hertfordshire, north and east London, and Essex are expected to be clear from the thunder and should face another sunny day with the weather around 28 °C.

The Met Office warned that around most the UK, flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

There is a chance that trains or bus services could become delayed or cancelled due to the striking weather.

Flooding on roads could cause some closures or make driving conditions very difficult.

It is believed that power cuts might also occur and other services to homes and businesses could be lost.

But tomorrow (June 27) many areas around north and east London, Hertfordshire and Essex will see a mixture of light and heavy rain throughout most of the day.

In St Albans between 1pm to 1pm, the Met Office warns there could be thunder.
