Essex Police are taking back control of a murder investigation after a man who was stabbed died.

The man, in his 30s, was found with stab wounds in Epping New Road shortly before 8pm last Tuesday (June 23).

Officers said he was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Met Police, who have been working with officers in Essex, said it was taking over the investigation last week.

But following further investigation, it has now been established that the venue of the murder falls within the jurisdiction of Essex Police.

As a result, from today (June 29) Essex Police said it will now be leading the investigation.

The family of the victim has been kept updated with developments.
