    An 80-year-old man is seriously injured in hospital after he was hit by a car in St Albans.

  • Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to a collision in Holywell Hill, near Westminster Lodge, at around 12.20pm today (Monday).

  • Police say a silver Vauxhall and a man were involved in a serious collision.
  • -
  • The elderly man was taken to St Mary's Hospital in London by road with serious injuries.
  • -
  • An air ambulance had landed in Verulamium Park, and numerous other emergency services attended.
  • -
  • The Vauxhall driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

  • Police have launched an investigation.

  • Sergeant Timothy Davies, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “We have already spoken to several witnesses, but if you witnessed the collision or the events leading up to the collision and have not yet spoken to us, please get in touch as soon as you can.
  • “If you were driving along Holywell Hill around the time of the collision and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, please contact us as you may have captured something significant which could assist our investigation.”
