Businesses and chains have started to sign up for a Government scheme which covers half of each diner's bill - here are some Hertfordshire eateries that have registered.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme this month which is designed to encourage people to safely return to dining out.

The scheme starts from August 3 and restaurant, bars, cafes and other hospitality businesses have already started to sign up.

The scheme grants customers 50 per cent off meals, with a maximum discount of £10 per person.

Businesses will receive a window sticker to show they are using the scheme. Customers will also not need a voucher as businesses will put the discount on their bill.

Pub retailer, Greene King, has announced it has now signed up to the scheme, meaning the following pubs in the county will be offering a discount:

  • The Swan, Abbots Langley
  • Tudor Arms, Watford
  • Southern Cross, Watford
  • Estcourt Tavern, Watford
  • Fox & Hounds, Rickmansworth
  • The Red House, Croxley Green
  • Loch Fyne, St Albans
  • Speckled Hen, St Albans
  • Battle Axes, Borehamwood

It has also been announced that the following food chains have also signed up to the scheme.

  • All Bar One
  • Browns
  • Burger King
  • Frankie & Benny's
  • Harvester
  • Nando's
  • Pizza Hut
  • Toby Carvery
  • Wagamama
