A motorcyclist has died after he was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A1.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway near Borehamwood at around 8.30pm on Monday evening.

Police and paramedics had responded to reports of a crash involving a white Honda motorcycle and a white DAF refrigerated lorry.

Police have confirmed the rider, a man aged in his 30s, died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

The lorry driver was not injured and he remained at the scene.

The A1 was closed for several hours between the M25 and the Rowley Lane slip road as police investigators carried out enquiries into the crash.

Highways England confirmed the road has reopened by 2.30am.

Police have launched an appeal into the crash and are appealing for witnesses.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, and has not already been in contact, to get in touch to assist with our investigation.

"Likewise, if you have dash cam footage which shows the incident or events leading up to it we’d like to hear from you.
