A SPATE of rogue traders have been caught in their tracks by officers this weekend.

Fareham Police have been called multiple times to deal with reports of rogue traders over the last 24 hours.

They said when responding to a further call, they caught workers returning to a property on Saturday morning, where they were seen doing work that was not quoted or requested.

Officers intervened and prevented further work being done, and reported the traders to Trading Standards.

Fareham Police added on social media: "The vehicle used by the workers was checked by the eagle-eyed PC Stevenson. As a result, the driver was reported for summons for the offence of driving a motor vehicle with two defective (bald) tyres.

"Never accept or agree for work to be undertaken without a written quotation and a cancellation notice."

Officers also warned that they expect to get more calls about rogue traders over the summer months.

They also said they have posted letters across Fareham to make local residents aware.
