A COUNCIL chairman and town’s MP took part in a simple wreath laying ceremony to mark VJ Day.
Horsham District Council’s leader Cllr Karen Burgess was joined by Conservative MP Jeremy Quin on Saturday morning.
They were joined the authority’s vice chairman Cllr David Skipp and town centre representative Cllr Peter Burgess.
The council said traditional events which would normally happen to commemorate VJ Day with live audiences were unable to take place as a result of the coronavirus pandemic this year.
So to commemorate and celebrate VJ Day 2020, the council, in partnership with Silvertip films recorded a special performance by veteran musician Alan Woolven from Horsham’s Carfax bandstand.
