A MAN who was refused permission to build another extension has appealed against Oxford City Council's decision.

Mr H Caan wanted to extend his house on top of his existing ground floor side extension to provide 'much needed' extra accommodation to his property in Bartholomew Road, Oxford.

But the council said it would have an 'awkward and unwieldy form' and fail to have a 'sympathetic or appropriately subservient relationship with the existing house'.

This is because of the height, width and depth of the proposed building.

The council also said that when viewed from areas of Bartholomew Road to the east, around the junction with Rahere Road, it would be 'a highly visible, visually awkward and incongruous addition to the house'.

Mr Caan has now appealed against that decision to the Planning Inspectorate.

No one can make any new comments on the plans, however people can ask to have their comments on the original planning application withdrawn.

Anyone wishing to do so must make a request to the Planning Inspectorate in writing, quoting the appeal reference APP/G3110/D/20/3254499 within four weeks of appeal start date (August 13).

Requests can be sent by email to West1@planninginspectorate.gov.uk.
